There are many truly comprehensive on-line libraries of information about piercing. Rather than repeat already provided text, we provide these links to sites that we feel will offer you the most in-depth definitions of various piercings, products, and issues.


The APP is a nonprofit international organization committed to the promotion and advancement of piercing safety and hygiene. It is a voluntary alliance of piercing professionals dedicated to the dissemination of information about body piercing. As a united group, the APP freely shares information with fellow members and health care professionals to provide the public with the best, most up-to-date information on piercing.

Located in the scenic French Quarter of New Orleans, Rings of Desire is home to Master Piercer Elayne Angel and her knowledgeable, friendly staff. She is known for being a pioneer in the field for piercing techniques and aftercare, as well as placements. She is credited with the current popularity of the tongue piercing. Rings of Desire offers an expansive library of piercing FAQ and aftercare instructions.
